STELLAR BY: DAN SALESTROM
There will be two different protagonists, HILJA & CANDICE, but they live in opposite areas of the ship & will not interact at all. They will both have their own independent series and stories.
SETTING
The main setting is a giant spaceship called the SUPERNOVA. It kinda looks like & functions like the AXIUM from the movie WALL-E. It′s a huge, residential spacecraft that floats aimlessly through space & has been for many years. The only way for an outside entity to access the SUPERNOVA is by small spacecraft. The SUPERNOVA is divided into 10 levels. The lower the level is on the ship the crappier it is. Here is a synopsis.
LEVEL 1
LEVEL 1 is the crappiest level. It′s just a big hot dumpster. On occasion is rockets garbage into space to just float around endlessly. Most of the time criminals are sent down there and ejected into space.
LEVEL 2
LEVEL 2 is only a step above the quality of LEVEL 1. Most of the poor population lives down here. It′s still very trashy but is used as a giant sweatshop. People accused of minor crimes are sent down there or people who cannot afford to live un the richer areas of the ship. This is the level CANDICE lives in.
LEVEL 3
LEVEL 3 is completely natural. It′s a giant nature preserve type area. Biome wise it′s a big blue hued jungle. Sure, on the surface it seems that it is meant to produce natural life on the SUPERNOVA, but the jungle is treacherous and was built to keep the poor from escaping the trashy areas. The creatures found in the jungle are vicious alien life forms with no sense of mercy. Any lower-class people who dare trek through it are quickly killed. There is no way to access this area by public means, however there is a large, spiderweb-like network of glass bridges so the higher classes can look down on the forest & the life within it.
LEVEL 4
LEVEL 4 is the equivalent of the emergent layer of a rainforest. It isn′t overgrown but it has significantly more plant life. This is the beginning of the Higher-class part of the SUPERNOVA. Most food on the ship is grown here. In the parts of it that are accessible to the public, there is a lot of cheap but quality shopping for any higher-class aliens to enjoy.
LEVEL 5, 6, & 7
All these levels are residential. The homes are structured like that of stores in a mall. The passageways & paths are balconies with glass walls. Each home is about the size of a large apartment. The richer you are, the higher up you live
LEVEL 8
The 8th level is structured like a workplace for the higher class. Emergency services, engineers, doctors, & other key jobs are found in this level.
LEVEL 9
LEVEL 9 features fine dining & high-class shopping. Things only the rich can indulge in.
LEVEL 10
The 10th level is home to an art, history, & natural museum as well as a huge library. It is a place for intellectuals to think in & enjoy fine art & gain more knowledge.
LEVEL 11
This level is home to all the government facilities. This is where laws are made, Juries are held, & other standard government stuff.
LEVEL 12
Also known as the WATCHTOWER, is the highest level of the SUPERNOVA. The only thing here is a glass dome ceiling and a small throne. The only people here are the leader & her advisor. You’ll learn more about them later.
MAIN CHARACTERS
HILJA
The first & most developed main character is HILJA. She is an 8-year-old mute girl of Sami descent. Before she was taken to the SUPERNOVA she lived in GRANITE FALLS, MN. She is a victim of child neglect, having been left in an isolated house by the highway. Since her father passed, her mother had gone off the rails, turning into a cruel, abusive mess. Her mother would only drop by to give a mediocre amount of food every so often. Her story begins with her wishing upon what she thinks is a shooting star. She simply wishes for someone to act as a true parent to her, someone to keep her company. This shooting star, however, was actually PLUTO’s ship. Their ship had to land in an open area & being in the woods that was very hard to come by. The only open space was HILJA’s backyard. She stood kinda just frozen on her back porch. PLUTO tried to approach her, but HILJA has a fear of aliens. First, she pretended not to notice & she went back inside and hid under her blankets. When she was found, at the first contact she bolted away again, this time hiding in a closet. This wasn’t the brightest idea because she was soon cornered. As she was stuck with them, she began to calm down. PLUTO eventually comes to understand her situation. As they warm up to each other, PLUTO witnesses the cruelty of her mother. A few days later, they take HILJA to the SUPERNOVA to keep her in the safest location possible.
CANDICE
Unlike HILJA, CANDICE had always lived on the SUPERNOVA. However, she lives all the way down in LEVEL 2, barely scraping by as a street clown. She desperately tries to improve her financial situation but an addiction to a substance known as STARDUST & a cruel boss named FELIZ hinder her in her path to a better life & taking down the cruel leader who governs high & low class alike.
SECONDARY MAIN CHARACTER
PLUTO is the alien HILJA met. They have a humanoid build, blue skin, 3 pairs of eyes, antennae, & 2 pairs of arms. They were around High Middle class in the rankings living in LEVEL 6 & have a stable job as a gardener in LEVEL 4. They were sent to EARTH to collect seeds of (to the aliens) undiscovered food. After they landed, they saw HILJA run back into her home & went to investigate. After finding, bonding with her, & witnessing the cruelty of her mother, they took her to the SUPERNOVA. They currently share their home.
SUPPORTING CAST
STELLA
STELLA is a yellow alien on the smaller side. She has a star-shaped head & 3 eyes. She lacks a mouth but can still speak. She wears a black T-shirt with a stereotypical green alien graphic on it.
LUNA
LUNA is a blue alien with a 2D crescent shaped head. She is slightly taller than STELLA. She has small useless bat wings and a diamond shaped hole in her torso. She & STELLA are in a romantic relationship & are the friends & neighbors of PLUTO.
ANTAGONISTS
GAUGHTTI
GAUGHTTI is the ultimate evil and captain of the SUPERNOVA. She is a cruel woman who has no remorse for any casualties she handles. Little is known about her. Both her and her assistant JEKY live in the WATCHTOWER. She is an anthropomorphic cat with a chimera black & light gray face. Her eye on the black side is a yellow diamond while her eye on the light gray side is a normal yellow eye.
JEKY
JEKY is GAUGHTTI′s assistant & that's kind of all there is to him. He takes the form of an abstract blue coyote/Jekyll. He is mostly on the morally gray side of the spectrum.
FELIZZ
FELIZZ is CANDICE′s boss. He takes the form of a slender anthropomorphic puffin with clown motifs. He is a big jerk & terrible person. He actively hinders CANICE’s chances at ascending the ranks.
BACKGROUND CHARACTERS
FAUCET
FAUCET is a female LEVEL 5 class alien. They are blue with a body with the same consistency as water. They have yellow eyes & sharp teeth. Their real name is GILL.
MIRIAM
MIRIAM is an alien with a single pink floating eye for a head. She also has angel & cat motifs. She wears a pink French maid dress & a bow on her white cat tail. She works as a RECEPTIONIST in LEVEL 11.
MELLORI
MELLLORI is another eye headed alien & sister to MIRIAM. She has fox & bat motifs & wears a purple tuxedo with lavender stripes. She has a bat shaped bowtie & a fox tail. She works as a SECRETARY in LEVEL 11.
VORTEX
VORTEX is yet another eye headed person but instead of just an eye he has a swirl of scribbles behind his main eye. His main eye is surrounded by 4 smaller eyes each with an angel wing on each one. He wears a basic gray tuxedo with a long wolf tail. He is the brother of both MIRIAM & MELLORI & works as an ATTOURNEY in LEVEL 11
NOTE
There are thousands of background characters, these are just the ones with the most impact on the plot.
DESIGN NOTES
HIGH CLASS DESIGNS
In the nice levels of the ship, the people have more of a celestial sort of design. Whether that be aliens, stars, moons... anything having to do with space. There are also commonly bird-like & Mammalian humanoids.
LOW CLASS DESIGNS
In the crappy level of the ship, more monstrous characters and some clown themed characters live there, however anyone of any theme can live there. Reptilian people are also very common in the lower-class levels. (If you make a character, you have more creative freedom if they are from the crap side of town.)
HISTORY
HOW ARE HUMANS SEEN IN THIS WORLD?
Most of the time, if there is a human on the ship, it is seen as a pet of sorts, or some kind of possession. This is simply because little is known about humans other than their inferior intellect. Hence why when STELLA and LUNA meet HILJA, they say to PLUTO, “you′ve been talking about how you’d like to get one of these haven′t you?” however PLUTO sees HILJA as a FRIEND; potentially a DAUGHTER.
